Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
May 26, 2020, 10:59 AM
Allied officials saw that the bodies of many of the soldiers who died in the fighting were unrecognizable. The governments of Belgium, France, Britain, Italy and the United States of America decided to honor the memory of these soldiers in a special way. Each government chose a symbolic unknown soldier and buried him in or near the national capital, then built a memorial or a shrine in his honor. The first mausoleum of the unknown soldier may go back to 1858, which is the "infantry soldier" mausoleum in Frederika in Denmark after the first Skilsvig War and another important mausoleum dates back to 1866 that was placed in the United States of America after the civil war there between north and south, but the beginning of the matter as an actual tradition took Its place after the events of the First World War, which reached a huge number of victims and soldiers whose identity could not be identified, and it is believed that the beginning of the tradition took its way after the founding of the tomb of the unknown soldier at the entrance to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris in France in 1920
